The Brotherhoods :

The Penitents are believers who, in the southern provinces organise themselves in brotherhoods..
hey are non religious voluntary associations who, through charity, work for their salvation.
The followers show devotion and charity. They sing the Liturgy of the Hours in the chapel, if they are wealthy enough to erect it,  or in front of their own altar, inside the Parish Church.

They dedicate their activity to a Patron Saint doted with spiritual and temporal devotion.
During processions, the brotherhoods, dressed in their traditional robes precede the churchgoers singing litanies.
